*Watch the Mel Gibson version of Hamlet’s Scene 2 Soliloquy* Go to Youtube, type in Hamlet Part 7 on the search area, Scroll to 3:37 if you want to start at the beginning of the soliloquy. (There are actually two listed, use the first one…if you use the second, it can be found at about 7:40). Hamlet starts with “Am I a coward?”
Answer these questions in your log (worth 10 pts.):
1. What does a visual element add to your understanding of the speech?
2. Does it help to see an actor deliver the soliloquy? How?
3. How does the setting affect your understanding of the soliloquy?
4. What do tonal elements add? How does the actor’s use of stress, inflection, and pauses affect your understanding?
